East Bengal Ultras has changed the fan dynamics in Kolkata Football. Before the advent of Ultras, female fans, although considerable in number were reluctant to go to stadium and preferred watching matches only on television. Kolkata Derby notorious for intense rivalry and violent clashes between fans further discouraged female fans to witness matches alongside their male counterparts.

Ultras has brought in a social movement, through their organized support and matchday activities, it created an immense mass appeal, especially among the young female fans. Now with a strong presence of East Bengal ladies, the Female Brigade is one the most active sub-groups and they equally contribute on matchdays and tifo preparations, making them an intrinsic part of the Ultras group.
